Symptom
In the access_log server log you see a large number of xmlrpc.php calls to your Wordpress website. The support has detected a high cpu load that is caused by long lasting and many requests within a short time period.
Cause
Your website is under attack. A hacker tries to break into it through the Wordpress XML RPC interface. The XML RPC interface enables you to edit your blog with third-party software, and it enables communication with other blogs. Normally, you do not need this interface.
Solution
Block all requests directed to xmlrpc.php. Add these lines to your .htaccess file:
order deny,allow
deny from all
